Every business owner should setup a budget. This budget will help you control your costs so you don't spend your way to failure. Keeping track of your money is vital to the success or failure of your home based business.

When setting up your first budget for your home based business, you should make a complete list of all your costs and expenditures, one time payments, and earnings. Once it is set up, you can build your budget based on costs and estimated earnings every month.

You should review your budget regularly just to make sure you are keeping on track. A well written budget will help you see what is working and what is not.



Home Based Business Tip #2

Get as many back links as you can whenever you can. The long term life of your business relies on how many back links you have. A high number of back links will keep your website ranking high for your keywords and keep the free traffic coming in from the search engines.

Write and submit articles on a regular basis. Post comments on blogs that deal with the same subject. Find a list of link directories and submit your site to as many of these directories as you can.

Make a daily plan that keeps you on a certain routine for getting back links. For example, every day submit your site to 20 directories, post 5 comments, and write at least 2 articles a week. It is a slow and tedious process but should not be overlooked.

Create a lead capture page and start your own list. Most of us are doing this but I cannot stress enough the importance of your own list. Capturing email addresses of customers or potential customers is as good as gold. You can market to that list and make money off of them forever.

There are a couple of guidelines to follow when building your own lead capture page.

- Offer them something of value, something that they just can't say no to, then offer them more on top of that.
- State the value of the freebies you are giving them in bold.
- Make sure you let them know you will not be selling or giving their information to anyone else.
- Don't make it too loud or too busy with information. A nice clean capture page works best.
