It’s been a very long but productive day. I’m still trying to pinch some production out of it even though it is 3am here. There just never seems to be enough time in the day.
Today in my 4th day of my “Follow My Footsteps” series I want to talk about Social Bookmarking. In my attempt to learn how to use Stumbleupon effectively, I have learned a valuable lesson. One that will cost me some visitors but nothing that I can’t over come.
Recently I have been using these social bookmark sites as…well, bookmark sites. Only I have been bookmarking my own sites attempting to increase the number of back links to my website. Some sites I have learned do not want you to do this at all, rather they want you to bookmark others sites to share with the community.
I certainly understand the concept, but I wanted to share MY website with the community. Apparently they call this type of sharing… spam. And not the good Spam that comes in a can that we all love (we all love Spam right?), 
but a disruptive rotten spam that has been festering on the underside of toilet in a 130 degree outhouse then thrown in all our faces. That’s the kind of spam we all don’t like…yuck.
So to make a long spam story short, they will simply just ban you from their sites temporarily. Temporarily is the key word here because everyone makes mistakes right?
We all have to learn from our mistakes and move on. Now you can all learn from my mistake and not have to ever worry about it.
So instead of always submitting your own blog posts to the bookmark sites, you should find a friend or 10 and start a bookmarking train. The more friends you find, the more these social bookmarking sites will like you and the more traffic they will deliver you. Sounds simple enough right?
The amount of traffic and back links you can get from these bookmarking sites are really too hard to just pass up so today I had to find a remedy. Luckily there are plenty of other high page rank sites that are still available that I haven’t tarnished my good image with that I can still submit to. Finding this list is as easy as asking a question in a forum, doing a search on google, or just having it given to you like I did with my previous post today…er yesterday.
Anyways, once I got this fresh list I had to find friends and do a swap of posting. Of course thats not as easy or convenient as submitting the darn posts yourself but who said making money online or anywhere was supposed to be easy right?
It was rather simple for me, being a member of the Pips Power Group provided me with an extra list and people that are highly motivated to get traffic to their site like I am. There was already a social bookmarking co-op thread started that I just had to join. Once I was in, all I had to do was find someone elses post and submit it and list the url of my post and someone takes it from there.
This is another great reason why these forums are such a valuable tool. I literally would not be able to do it without the help of my peers, so cheers to all my friends at the Pips Power Group and at the Warrior Forum for making it all possible.
For those looking to start social bookmarking, take my advice and find some friends to join you on this mission.
