Of course most of us are now aware that the internet has plenty of profit potential. The amount of people who venture online seems to increase exponentially month by month allowing almost anyone to single handedly develop some sort of website and at least get a small share of that traffic every day. Even just a small share of traffic can amount to quite a bit depending on what you are offering. Heres a brief run through on how you can start to earn money online and make money working from home.
Step 1: Research Research Research!
Research will bring you the best chance to succeed with an online business.
How do you research? Easily…
One great benefit of using the internet to make money working from home is the fact that when you research, you’ll find the exact numbers of people and what they are searching for specifically. What that means is that you wont ever have to blow your time and money on a product that wont work. You’ll know if a specific niche will work for you BEFORE you start it.
You can find out if a niche is popular by 1) Defining what your main keywords are. 2) Using a keyword traffic tool to find out how many people are searching for those keywords on a daily/monthly basis. And 3) Making sure the sum of those keywords add up to at least 75,000 searches per month or 2,500 per day.
Before you begin to just search on any niche under the sun, ask yourself this first. “What is it that I am passsionate about and have extensive knowledge on?”
Being passionate about something AND knowing a lot about it will help make it easier for you to write about and make it a heck of a lot easier to pitch.
Find out what the competition is for that niche.
You can easily find the competition by simply typing in the keywords that you came up with to define your niche. Once you do you will be able to see exactly how many competitors you’d have, what they are promoting, and how they are promoting it. This leads right up to the next step to make money working from home…
Step 2: Setting Up Your Website
I wont get into the specifics or technical aspects of setting up your domain, host, files, etc. That is a pretty easy process you can figure out or hire someone to do it for you.
What I will focus on is the CONTENT of your website. What you want to provide on your website is quality, original content that your visitors will find of value. This content may include but may not be limited to video, articles, software downloads, freebies of any sort, blogs, community chat forums, surveys or polls, and audio content.
This all goes back to the research of your competition. Differentiate the successful competition from the not so successful. Quite simply, you’ll find the successful ones on top of the search results.
Find out what products or services they are promoting and how they are promoting them. Also look to see where those banners or links are located. The ones located on top of the site are the ones that are going to be the most profitable. You’ll want to monetize your website using some of the same programs…because if they are successful for them, it means they can be for you. All you have to do is out promote them.
Step 3: Promoting Your Website
The last step is to promote your website. You’ll need traffic to your website if you want to make money working from home. It does not matter how nice, or how much killer content you have on your website. If you do not promote your website consistently, you will not make a cent online.
There are plenty of ways you can promote your website. You can write articles and submit them to the article directories. You can participate in discussions in forums and leave a link back to your site in your signature. You can start a blog and use social bookmarking to drive traffic. Theres also pay-per-click, traffic exchange programs, blog commenting, and press releases to name just a few more.
Use the promoting methods that work best for you and stick with it. Most of the methods I listed above are 100% free. There are different services you can use to make your work easier but will require a fee.
The key to the promoting game is to pick up back links. The more back links you have, the higher you will rank in the search engines for your keywords. This is what will bring you long term success and is how you will really begin to make money working from home.
Your overall objective should be to push your website to the top of the search rankings for your main keywords. If you did your research properly, this top ranking should propel you to plenty of traffic and plenty of riches.
