Follow My Footsteps – Day 121

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

I know its been quite some time since the last “Follow My Footsteps” update, since October 1st to be precise.  I kind of went a different direction by adding more article content to this blog.  I’m not sure that the articles provide the same unique experience as being able to document how I am doing things and if those things are resulting favorably.

So in effort to bring more quality information, and to stay true to my blog theme, i.e “Home Based Business Research Blog”, I will continue the “Follow My Footsteps” series and you can expect to still see more informative articles that you wont find anywhere else.

I’m going to up the value of this blog with a few experiments I have in mind.  A few online business experiments if you will.  More on that later, first a brief update in stats…

LiveLifeToTheFullest.biz now has 2829 back links.  Last report I had 2713. +116

I now have an alexa ranking of 639,903.  That ranking is 93637 spots higher than it was on Oct. 1.

The month of September was a record traffic month showing 10,625 visitors.  October smashed September with a new record… 12,737… 2,112 more visitors in September.  The month of November is going to well surpass September too!

I may sound like a broken record here but the stats continue to steadily rise with no new major changes as far as promotion is concerned.  Although I did give the home page a brand new look. Check it out… Internet Home Business Opportunities

What I Have Planned

I plan on documenting some exciting business ventures in the very near future.  What I want to do is implement a few sales funnels where I have the opportunity to earn pay for some services I can provide as well as using some other techniques I have learned to build some much needed passive residual income.

Without telling you too much until I am in a position to give it a go, I will tell you that one project involves the creation of a digital product where I will offer 100% commission to affiliates on sales.  This will in turn lead my affiliates to be more aggressive in promoting it and I will benefit by promoting a few products on the back end and increasing the amount of subscribers to another list I will collect.

I also plan on starting a new website that will offer a WordPress Install service for a cheap price.  The website will be a brief sales page offering a WordPress install for a certain price, or free if they sign up under my Host4Profit affiliate link.  I’m going to write plenty of articles promoting it and even plan on doing some PPC advertising as well.

Stay tuned as I will be documenting every cent spent and every dollar made with these new business ventures.

Follow My Footsteps – Day 65

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

I apologize for not giving more updates but I have really been inundated with a massive amount of work. That’s no excuse though and I will make it a point to be updating about what I am doing at least twice a week.

Today is Oct. 1 and I am going to go over all the stats from September. What we are looking to see is that traffic, the most important stat (aside from money, but that’ll come), continues to climb.

The first stat I want to show is the number of back links…

Thirty days ago that number was 2519. I have increased my visible back links by 194. Of course I have seen that number at 2833 so again, not too reliable or accurate, we just want to make sure it is going up and it is.

As you can see above, I finally hit that elusive 10,000 visitor mark last month, increasing my traffic by 831 visitors with an average of 354 visitors per day. I expect those numbers to be crushed next month.

Last week there were 2522 visitors. The week before I had 2459. That is a gain of 63 more visitors and I just missed the record by 12 visitors.

Thirty days ago I had a total of 56 subscribers. That means it took me 12 months to get that number and an average of a little over 4.5 subscribers per month. As of today, I have a total of 103. I added 47 last month alone!

Thirty days ago I had an Alexa traffic rating of 766,169, today I’m at 733,540. I climbed 32,629 spots last month!

Really encouraging stats and exactly what I was looking for. I seem to be moving up in all facets so there you go… more proof my efforts are working.

I have a couple of projects on the horizon that I am just now beginning on that I feel is really going to make a name for myself in this industry. of course not without help from a friend though. More on this another time…

Stay tuned…

Follow My Footsteps – Day 58

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Ahhhh things are finally starting to get interesting as yesterday I spent the whole day setting up my new website/blog. Thats right, I’m now branching out to other markets to test the waters. I decided to go into the food/cooking niche because I felt that it may be an easy niche to get a good flow of traffic, and good flow of traffic means a good flow of money as well. I am still working on finding a good template but you can view it in the works at (canceled site)

The idea with this website is to offer great cooking advice and recipes that are easy, quick, efficient, and most of all enjoyable and delicious. I am going to write as though my website is the authority website for easy cooking and I hope to build a base of followers and repeat traffickers. I plan on monetizing by selling ad space, using adsense, and maybe a downloadable recipe book. Obviously I will be switching things up and doing more and more research as we move ahead but I am excited and can’t wait to show you all the results.

First of all, before we get into the current stats for this website, let me take you step by step as to how I started up the new website.

Step one is to register your domain name. I did that at NameCheap.com and it cost me $9.29 for one year.

The next step is to find a host to host your website. I use Host4Profit, it costs $24.95 a month but since I have this site hosted on the same server, it’s only an extra $5 a month.

After that I went to WordPress.org and downloaded the new WordPress blog to be used as my main site platform. Once the download was complete I extracted all the files and then uploaded them to my server. That’s it! My website was up and running in just a few hours. Of course the research took much longer than that.

I’ll be promoting that website much the same as this website and it will be real interesting to see how soon I start seeing some real traffic. I’ll keep you posted.

As far as what I am doing here… I had 2465 visitors the week before and last week I had 2459. Didn’t go up but still pretty consistent, averaging well over 300 a day.

My opt-in list last week had a total of 77 subscribers, I now have 92. I remember not too long ago where it took me a few months to get 15 people to opt-in to my list. This compounding viral internet effect is so apparent and so fun to watch too!

I think what I am going to do now with the Follow My Footsteps series is keep giving the weekly updates as far as what I am doing along with my traffic stats. That won’t change, but I will run down total costs and profits from the previous month at the beginning of each month. So stay tuned, things are starting to heat up.

Follow My Footsteps – Day 50

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Welcome back to “Follow My Footsteps”, now 50 days deep into a more aggressive, more business minded promotional stage than the several months leading up to this series.

Consistent blogging, social bookmarking, forum posting, and article marketing has drastically increased the amount of visitors to my blog and website. In fact, up to this point I have had 4 back-to-back record traffic weeks resulting from this more concentrated and well documented effort.

Last week I submitted two articles to SubmitYourArticle for distribution. I made several posts in the Warrior Forum. I also made a total of 5 posts in my blogs and submitted all 5 posts to the social bookmarking sites.

There are may things that I am in the process of doing as well. Things like redoing my website, creating an info product (ebook), and writing a email series for my new opt in list. But it is the small busy work that I do every day that keeps the steady flow of increasing traffic to my website. This is what I hope to show you by documenting my steps here in this series.

By continuing to show you my ever increasing stats, I hope to prove to you that it is possible for anyone to run a successful business online regardless of how much money you have (I had none and was deep in debt), or how much experience you have (also had zero, zip, none!). After all of this, I hope to prove to you that all you need is a strong will and desire to succeed. And a computer and internet connection…duh.

Now on to the stats…

The first graph shows just how much my traffic has skyrocketed over the past twelve months. Is it going to peak soon? I don’t think so. The back links are really starting to add up and I am starting to receive a good amount of traffic from the search engines as a result and still growing.

This last week I had 2465 visitors. Just 69 shy of breaking the record again. I really thought I had it going into the weekend but for whatever reason, I only had 270 visitors on Sunday and ruined my shot of hitting 5 record traffic weeks in a row. Still though it was my 2nd highest ever and nothing to be ashamed of. Just makes me want to work harder.

Last week I had 64 total subscribers. As of today I now have 77 subscribers. Signed up 13 over the course of the week. Almost 2 a day. I remember just not too long ago where I would go a whole month without getting 2 opt-ins. Definitely showing marked improvement there. Most of my subscribers are coming from the search engines after writing only two blog posts targeting a few keywords and giving away the free squeeze page generator.

Alright, so there you have it. Traffic still on the rise and so is my opt-in list. Stay tuned…

Follow My Footsteps – Day 43

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Just a quick update today. I have a busy week planned and today is going to be a short day because my Denver Broncos are playing tonight! I don’t know how many of you are big NFL fans but I have a good feeling about my Broncos this year.

Anyways, moving right along here. Lets take a look at my traffic stats this week. Keep in mind, I have had back-to-back-to-back record traffic weeks. So if I did it again last week, that would be 4 consecutive record traffic weeks…

Last week I had 2437 unique visitors. This week I had 2533! A new record and 4th straight record traffic week! Wow, this stat in and of itself proves that my methods are working. If I keep getting record traffic weeks, just think what kind of stats I will be showing you just a few months down the road. I’m excited to see.

Moving on… Last week I had 56 total subscribers. At the time of this post I now have 64 subscribers. I signed up 8 this past week.

More traffic means more sign ups and sales and that’s exactly what I am seeing. Nowhere near quitting my day job yet but definitely making progress and progress is precisely what I want to document here.

Stay tuned…

Follow My Footsteps – Day 37

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Welcome Back.

I hope all of you in the states had a very relaxing and enjoyable Labor Day weekend. Mine was very enjoyable but no so much relaxing. That’s pretty much how all of my weekends have been shaping up recently. No time to relax with all this work to be done.

So. I wanted to use this first post of the month to start documenting a couple of other things. Things that are best posted once a month rather than once a week. Two things namely, back links and Alexa Traffic ranking.

The back links are a very important number. Not so much to document but more so because it is imperative to constantly be increasing your back link number. The only reason I am documenting it is to prove to YOU, my audience, that my work is moving my internet business forward.

The Alexa Traffic ranking is really not important at all. Again just a number to show you all that my traffic is getting bigger.

No more delay, lets get right into it…

According to SEO Centro I have 2519 total back links. If you just type my website, www.livelifetothefullest.biz , into Google it shows 2680 results.

Alexa has my website ranked 766,169 in the world. Strange because even though my traffic is increasing, my traffic rank is going down. Oh well, we’ll continue to monitor it just to see some more trends.

This last weeks traffic stats are as follows…

Last week I had a record 2350 visitors. This past seven days I broke another record with 2437 visitors! That averages to 348.14 visitors per day and back to back to back record weeks for my website.

Last week I had no more opt ins to report. This week I started a few more lists and as a result, have a few more opt ins. As of today I have a total of 56 subscribers.

I also said I am working towards my goal of 30 people in my SYA down line before the end of the year…

Right now I have 7 in my downline, and am making $90.65 a month through SYA. 23 more to go!!!

This weeks “to do” list…

  1. Write 2 articles.
  2. Continue to rebuild my website.
  3. 10 posts to my blogs.
  4. Social bookmark all of my blog posts.
  5. Learn more about creating and releasing my own product. (will document this process when I’m ready to start).

Stay tuned…

Follow My Footsteps – Day 33 – Keyword Research

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Hi again,

I just wanted to let you in on what I have been up to over the past couple of days. Mainly on how I am using keywords to bring traffic to my website.

At first it seemed as if keyword research was a tedious unnecessary process that brought little or no rewards. Today though, I’m glad I took the time to do just that.

The back links have been adding up and it is showing by the traffic I’m getting from the search engines. Knowing now for sure that my website will be ranked high for all low to moderately competitive keywords I choose makes blog posting that much more fun to track. Let me just give you an example of how I test, use, then monitor my keywords.

First, I use the Google Adwords keyword tool to look into a very broad search item. This week I typed in “home business ideas”. In doing this you will get a multitude of results. What I am looking for is terms that don’t have a real high search rate. One’s that I can rank with.

If you type those terms into the tool and scroll down, you will see the keyword phrase “home biz ideas” and that it is was searched on 590 times in July. Next I want to do an actual search in Google first without quotes, then with quotations. And without the quotation there are 376,000 results and with them they are 6,980 results.

I’ve been ranked on page one for keywords with millions of results so I know that I can compete easily using “home biz ideas”.

The next step is to actually write the post/article with the keywords, which I did and you can view that here.

I made the post on Wednesday and I am happy to announce that I am currently on page 2 for those keywords with quotes and page 9 without quotes. That’s great! Only 2 days and still moving up. Soon I will be on page 1 for those keywords and getting a share of the almost 20 people per day who search on those terms.

I’m going after a bunch of other keywords and will repeat this process over and over and over again. Anyone can use this keyword research method and have similar results. Trust me, if I can do it anyone can.

Follow My Footsteps – Day 29 – Gaining Momentum

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Hello. I’m now 29 days deep into my Follow My Footsteps research project. For those of you just seeing this for the first time, let me just briefly explain what I’m doing here.

Just four weeks ago I made the commitment to document all that I am doing to fulfill my dream of working full time using nothing but my laptop and internet connection. I have spent a good majority of my efforts these past four weeks increasing the back links to my site. In doing so, my traffic continues to rise and I really feel like I am gaining some good momentum heading into this fall.

I have made some bigger more long term commitments to benefit my home business but have made little ground towards making them a reality. More specifically redoing my main website, then branching off into a few other niches. I am making some progress but it is definitely a tough task seeing how I am still working 45-50 hours at my day job. It is a work in process though.

Lets take a look at some of my stats from last week…

Last week I had a record 2332 visitors which averages out to just over 333 visitors a day. This week I had 2350 visitors and an average of 335 a day! Beat the all time record by 18! Lets keep it going next week!

I am documenting my opt-in list as well but sadly I have no new visitors to report over the last seven days. I know what it will take to really boost my list, but it will have to wait.

Lets move on to this weeks “to do” list…

  1. Write and submit 2 articles.
  2. Post to my blogs 8 times.
  3. Social bookmark each post.
  4. Submit my website to 100 directories.
  5. Work on rebuilding my site.

I should also add that I have been working on a plan to increase my down line in SubmitYourArticle. My goal is to have 30 people in my down line. 30 people = $388.50 a month.

I’m doing this by offering to write someone 4 articles and a free learning e book to sign up under me. I created a post and then linked to the post in the Warrior Forum. If you’d like to read the new post I created with the offer, you can do so HERE. I also used the keywords “article marketing strategy” in attempt to draw some traffic from the search engines as. I am currently on page 7 spot #64 in Google for those keywords.

Follow My Footsteps – Day 22

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Hi and welcome back.

The efforts that I have put in are really starting show in terms of traffic. Let’s get right to the proof…

Last week I had 1954 total unique visitors. This week I had a record 2332 visitors! That’s an improvement of +378 visitors! I also had a record traffic day on Sunday with 407 visitors! My traffic stats are up over 19% in just one week. Absolutely outstanding!!

Now lets take a look at my opt in numbers…

Last week I was at 45 subscribers so I am up 5 more this week.

My Alexa ranking and back links I will show at the beginning of every month only because the numbers vary so much and we will get a better overall picture checking it less frequently.

  1. This weeks concerns and goals are as follows:
  2. Write and submit 3 articles.
  3. Post to my blog at least 7 times.
  4. Social bookmark each post.
  5. Submit website to 100 directories.
  6. Continue to work on rebuilding my website. (I am hoping that by the end of the week, I will at least have it drawn up and attempt to change it up a bit. I don’t think I can make it any worse.)My new niche websites will have to take a back seat until I learn how to use Dreamweaver effectively.

Remember that if you have any questions or maybe you’d like me to document something Im not, please leave me a comment.

Stay tuned…

Follow My Footsteps – Day 20 – Showing Real Progress

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Just a brief post today to let my viewers know that my recent efforts that I have committed myself to are now beginning to really show. My website and blogs are moving up the ranks in the search engines rapidly and the traffic I get from the search engines is increasing almost every day. This is so exciting and I am glad I am able to document this for all to see that my efforts and methods are bringing me real results.

For example, my website ranks #2 on Google right now out of 17.5 million for the keywords “real ways to make a living online“. I didn’t even target those words. A blog post of mine ranks #5 on Yahoo out of 160 million for the keywords “how to start your own money making website“. Don’t believe me? Check ‘em yourself…

The only reason I know that I’m ranked for certain keywords is because people are finding my site using these keywords. Once they click on my link, Statcounter documents this for me and produces the information available for me to see.

As you can see above, it shows me exactly what words they are searching on and what page they landed on as well. Great tool to have!

Again, all I’m doing to get these results is adding content and marketing my content using backlinks from articles, social bookmarking, adding my link to link directories, and posting in forums. Doing just a little a day is getting me these massive results.

I will show you the full slate of stats and get you all updated as to what else I have in store on Monday.

Stay tuned…
